Who doesn't like to be rewarded for good behavior? No matter what you're age is, it's nice to be recognized for what ever it is you did well. Especially when it comes to something as difficult as weight loss and changing you're lifestyle with healthier food choices and being more active. Whether it be taking the steps instead of the elevator or passing on the extra piece of pizza at lunch, those are small changes that over time will make a big difference.
The week I started my weight journey I picked up a new pair of sneakers & a new pair of gym pants. I looked at it as a reward for committing to getting healthy and as motivation to be more active.
As time passes & more weight is lost, I plan to keep up with rewards as one way to stay motivated. Earlier in the week I talked about setting short & long term goals. My long term "big" goals all have rewards attached to them. This keeps my mind focused on the big picture while the short term goals keep me still feeling accomplished.
Remember, rewards don't necessarily need to cost money. It could be something as simple as giving yourself an extra 10 mins to sleep in in the morning to a little extra tim eat night to soak in the tub.
Here's an idea as to what I'm using for my goals:
*New water bottle (purchased when I lost my 1st 5 lbs)
*Song for my ipod
*New sports bra
*New gym pants
*New gym shirt
*Pedometer
*Book
*Manicure
*Pedicure
*CD
*Magazine subscription
*Massage
And for my ultimate weight goal: A Kayak for me & DH.
