For me, setting weight loss goals is a very important part of staying on track. It helps keep me focused and gives me something to work towards. Just like anything in life.
I started with an ultimate goal weight. After setting that, I calculated how much weight that meant I had to lose and nearly fell of my chair. It's a lot! And it seems for very far off. And b/c of that I set a bunch of small goals that were much more attainable.
I don't know about you, but I'm an instant gratification kinda gal. And with over 100+ lbs to lose, there wasn't going to be any of that. So, I set small goals for myself.
My main small goal is to lose 5 lbs per month. Some of my other goals include lose 5% of my weight & then 10% of my weight. Walk once a week (this will increase as time goes on), drink 8 glasses of water/day, eat out no more than twice a week (sat & sun night), eat atleast one fruit & one veggie a day (this also needs to be increased) and journal my food daily.
Setting goals that are attainable is key & I feel that all of mine are. These are goals that I know with some work can be reached. And reaching them helps keep me motivated & on track.
