So, yesterday I was thinking about how I had run that 5k on Sat [did I mention I ran 5k?! I ran 5k!] and essentially completed the c25k program early. And then I was wondering if that meant that I had "graduated" easrly. I mean, I'd still have 3 more weeks to go, so at least 9 more runs. But maybe I could be considered one of those child prodigies [spell check totally just had to correct my spelling on prodigies, so maybe not]? You know, one of those kids that graduates college a little early, like at 18. The program is meant to train you to run a 5k, and I did. So program complete, right?
And then I started thinking about the program and how it essentially was designed to help you increase your stamina. So just b/c I ran 5k one time, doesn't mean I'm a runner. Is that how that goes?
So, I decided that of the 9 runs I have left, If I can run 5k for atleast 1/2 those days [so my 4-5 next runs] then I'll be an early graduate.
Well, today was w6d3. It called for a 5 min warmup, 25min run, 5 min cooldown. I started off with a 10 min warmup on the elliptical then headed over to the tread. Hopped on and started running. I was exhausted after 3 minutes. This was nothing like last time. Last time I felt like I could have run forever. When the 37 mins was up I felt like I could have run for at least 37+ more. Not today. This run was like swallowing glass. Awful. I was checking the time every 2 minutes. Struggling the entire time. Longest.run.ever.
Now granted I feel like I'm getting sick and probably shouldn't have been at the gym in the 1st place but I'm foolish like that.
I did finish up the run though & felt good about that. Was bummed I didn't get to 5k again though.
So, needless to say, I'll be finishing up the program whether or not I run 5k for the next 5 runs or not. No skipping. No early graduating. Gonna finish it out just like everyone else. 3 more weeks.

Hey Kim. My name is JoAnna. I'm on this weight loss journey with you as well. So far I've lost 50 pounds and I'm stuck. I will get past this though. I started the
C25K program a few weeks ago. I got one day in. ONE day. I got sick and just haven't gotten my energy back. Lame excuse I know. So I'd say you're doing pretty awesome! I LOVE reading your blog and watching your videos. I'm totally addicted. If I fall off the wagon so to speak one day I'm like OMG where is Kim. I need her advice! haha. Freaky I know! Please don't block me:) Anyway, just wanted to let you know how inspiring you are. Please keep sharing! Take care girl. Go get churr run on!
I have had a hard time completing
C25K Week #4. I repeated it 3x's! Running/jogging for 5 mins straight is difficult for me! I pulled a muscle in my hamstring last week, and I haven't done it this week. I can ADMIRE how difficult it is to run for 25 mins straight and even more finishing a 5K! I hope to be there one day, it is just going to take me a LOT longer! LOL
Hey Joanna! Congrats on the 50lbs! That's amazing! You must feel incredible! How's c25k going?
I def appreciate your support. Keeps me going knowing so many people are going through the same struggles. It's not easy but we can do it (cheese ball over here! ) Ha!
Hey Melissa! How's week 4 been going? The one good thing is that your still getting exercise whether or not your repeating the same week or moving forward. It's all beneficial in the long run. :)
