Yesterday kicked off my 1st of many charity walks/runs of the season. 5k walk a few towns over with 2 of my cousins benefiting Meghan McCarthy, a high school senior who passed away after a long battle with a brain tumor last January.
I'll be honest, I sign up for these walks for the exercise & the chance to spend time with friends/family, but it's nice when a walk benefits something really as nice as what this community is doing in honor of this girl's tragic passing.

Warning: Awkward photo ahead

My cousin Jen & I busted eating fruit loops straight out da box.
Hence the it wasn't me smile I'm sportin'

Not gonna lie, the walk was rough. Not the distance, but b/c it was freezing & that morning I seemed to have thought I was too cool for hats, gloves or even long pants. [goodjobkim] And most of the streets we were walking on didn't have sidewalks and they only coned off a very small walking area along the road. [goodjobtewksbury] That coupled with the fact that I had Bodhi walking next to me and Ava in the jogging stroller, I was feeling a bit flustered.

And when I say flustered, I don't mean the part where we took a detour to go say hi to my aunt that lives down the street & check out her new hardwood floors and visit for a bit. Not that part.

But, all in all, it was a good walk. Not the most intense 5k, but fun none the less.

Plus, I got a race number which made me feel like a badass.

I contemplated wearing it around for the rest of the day, but Adam talked me out of it.
