Wow. Race went great yesterday! Got to the course and there were a ton of people there, which really got me pumped. Met up with a friend who was also running it which was cool. The more the merrier. Adam and Ava were of course there with their cute sign. As were a few friends there to support me. [thanks guys! you da best!] Everyone was so excited to get started. It's funny, I really thought I'd be nervous the days leading up to it. I told Adam the week prior that I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep the night before, but after the trial run on Tues, I was good. Cool as a cucumber. Like I said before, I knew I could finish it.
Got my size Medium Tshirt which I had to promptly exchange. "Small please." say wha???? yup! yup! Then headed over to the pack to line up.
Ava surprised me and came over to chat before the start.
Quick little kiss for good luck, reversed.
And I was off.
Not gonna lie, this pic makes me feel skinny. FB profile pic anyone? ;)
It def went better than the trial run. No rain. It was beautiful out at around 65. Perfect. And having all those people around me took my mind off of things. Just mindless running. Still lots of struggling with the hills, but non stop running throughout.
Rounded the corner and saw the clock. My goal was to come in under 36:00 min, my trial run time.
Crossed at 35:18. Sa-weet!
Feeling ah-mazing! Flying. Both feet off the ground.
And then I spotted Ava holding my sign.
My reason for everything.
And then what you didn't see is me at the finish line standing with my legs crossed pretending to stretch. Almost pee'd my pants after crossing. Legit. Didn't even have to go while I was running.Went away about 3 mins later. Odd.
Overall, it was an amazing day. Accomplished something I had always wanted to. Felt invincible the rest of the evening. Even had a big fat juicy burger to celebrate [yes, rewarding myself with food. you hush up!]. And I'm already looking for my next race. [possibly in 2 weeks on the 23rd. i know. i got the fever]
Running is incredible. Who knew?! Lovin' life people.
